About Mark Ronson

Mark Ronson is an internationally renowned DJ and Academy-Award, seven-time-Grammy-Award-winning and Golden Globe-winning artist and producer.

Ronson spent the first eight years of his life growing up in London, England before moving with his family to New York City.  Already a keen student of music, and a huge fan of hip hop, he was 16 when he first began creating mixtapes and trying his hand at DJing. That early passion set him on a path to music production, recording and songwriting that has resulted in a career highlighted by work on a multi Grammy-winning album by Amy Winehouse, as well as his own Grammy-winning, global smash hit with Bruno Mars, “Uptown Funk.”  Along with releasing four successful albums under his own name, his resume includes production work for some of music’s biggest names, including Adele, Paul McCartney, Duran Duran and Lily Allen. More recently, he helmed Lady Gaga’s acclaimed fifth album, Joanne and Queens Of The Stone Age’s lauded Villains. This year he released a string of singles with Diplo under the name Silk City, including the current world wide hit “Electricity” with Dua Lipa, which earned him a Grammy Award for “Best Dance Recording” in 2019.

He is a co-writer of the song “Shallow,” recorded by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper for the movie A Star Is Born, for which he earned an Academy Award for “Best Original Song,” a Golden Globe Award for “Best Song Written for a Motion Picture,” a Grammy Award for “Best Song Written for Visual Media,” and a Grammy nomination for “Song of the Year.”

Most recently Mark collaborated with Miley Cyrus on the hit song, “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart,” the first single  featured from Late Night Feelings set for release June 21st. Since its release in late November, the platinum certified single has garnered 250 million streams worldwide and 100 million video views.

He is currently based in Los Angeles where he operates his record label, Zelig Records, home to fast rising star King Princess. To date, Ronson has 1 Academy Award, 7 Grammy Awards, 2 Brit Awards, 1 Golden Globe Award and 1 MTV VMA Award to his name.

Lead Track ‘Queuejumper’ Out Now – 11 Date UK & Ireland Tour Announced For October

Neil Hannon, one of the country’s foremost songwriters, releases a wonderful new Divine Comedy album ‘Office Politics’ on June 7th. It’s the follow-up to the acclaimed top ten 2016 album ‘Foreverland’.

“Office Politics” is a 16 track tour de force full of inventive, timeless music peopled with a typically irreverent cast of characters. “It has synthesizers. And songs about synthesizers,” Neil says. “But don’t panic. It also has guitars, orchestras, accordions, and songs about love and greed.” But ‘Office Politics’ central characters are the machines. Or ‘Infernal Machines’ as one track rages.

“I do try to make normal records,” Neil says with a smile. ”But it always seems to wander off into odd territories.”

And for that we should be thankful.

The Divine Comedy will play the following UK and Ireland headline tour dates. Tickets on sale from 9.00am on Friday 12th April. Ticket links can be found at www.thedivinecomedy.com

out May 31st

Sony Music Entertainment’s Depeche Mode 12″ vinyl singles project continues with the release of Black Celebration | The 12″ Singles and Music For The Masses | The 12″ Singles – out May 31st.

Each of these definitive box sets contains 12″ vinyl singles contemporaneous to either Black Celebration (1986) or Music For The Masses (1987). Both pivotal releases in the Depeche Mode canon, these albums advanced the band’s musical mission, moving the DM sound from industrial pop into darker atmospheric emotional territory.

Following its release in 1986, Black Celebration became the group’s then-highest charting album in both the UK and Germany, expanding their influence across pop culture while inspiring myriad young musicians to start bands of their own.

The next year, Music For The Masses furthered Depeche Mode’s international mass appeal, breaking open the United States and other markets with the record-setting Music For The Masses Tour. An electrifying and historic adventure for band and audiences worldwide, the tour included Depeche Mode concerts in then-communist East Berlin, Budapest, and Prague. The tour’s 101st show, a transcendent performance at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, was attended by more than sixty thousand fans and documented in 101, a concert film and an accompanying live album.

From their earliest days as a band, Depeche Mode championed 12″ vinyl, embracing the singular power of the format and the avenues of innovation it opened up. The 12″ single allowed the band to explore new sonic possibilities while the tactile physical beauty of the packaging gave Depeche Mode room to develop a sophisticated and commanding visual aesthetic. Depeche Mode used their singles discography as a means of offering left field remixes and other delights for their fans.

Both Black Celebration|The 12″ Singles and Music For The Masses|The 12″ Singles extended Depeche Mode’s increasingly mind-blowing run of 12″ singles and featured some of the band’s most sublime artwork to date.  Each of the albums showcased some of the most enduring singles in the DM catalog; Black Celebration featured “A Question of Lust” and “Stripped” while Music For The Masses contained “Never Let Me Down Again” and “Strangelove” (Depeche Mode’s first #1 US Dance chart hit).

Black Celebration | The 12″ Singles contains the four original 12″ releases from the album plus a 12″ vinyl version of the limited edition “A Question of Lust” cassette release, available for the first time internationally in this collection. Music For The Masses | The 12″ Singles includes the seven original and special edition 12″ vinyl singles from the album.

Sony Music Entertainment released the first two box sets in the series Speak & Spell | The Singles and A Broken Frame | The Singles on August 31st, 2018.  The second batch – Construction Time Again | The 12″ Singles and Some Great Reward | The 12″ Singles – arrived on December 14th, 2018.

Each box set in the series contains the singles from each Depeche Mode album on audiophile-quality 12″ vinyl, with audio mastered from the original tapes. The artwork for the exterior of each of the box sets draws on iconography inspired by the original releases, while the vinyl sleeves themselves feature the original single artwork.

The Depeche Mode 12″ Singles Series will continue over the coming years, with plans to release boxes containing the singles from each of the band’s albums in similar deluxe audiophile-grade collector’s editions.

In 2018, Depeche Mode completed their Global Spirit Tour, a worldwide concert itinerary that launched in May 2017 and crescendoed summer 2018 with a pair of shows at the Waldbühne in Berlin on July 23 and 25. The 15-month Global Spirit Tour saw the band play to more than 3 million fans across Europe, North America and South America.

Summer Festival Dates Announced

Keane, one of Britain’s best and most beloved bands, are currently putting the finishing touches to a brand new studio album, their first since ‘Strangeland’ in 2012, set for release later this year.

A stunning recent appearance on the BBC’s Comic Relief, performing ‘Somewhere Only We Know’, sent fans on social media into overdrive. It was like they’d never been away.

After releasing two highly successful solo albums during Keane’s hiatus, frontman Tom Chaplin found himself meeting up with Tim Rice-Oxley, Keane’s songwriter and pianist, and listening to songs that Tim had planned on releasing as part of a solo project. Tom was incredibly moved by the honesty of the writing and knew immediately that he wanted to help bring these emotional songs to life.

“I thought it was the most personal, most vulnerable set of songs that I’d ever heard,” says Tom Chaplin, “and I was very drawn to that. It felt like a story that I could help articulate.”

Tom and Tim soon found themselves in the studio with their old mates, drummer Richard Hughes and bassist Jesse Quin, working on an album that they’re all extremely proud of.

Keane have already announced European festival appearances for the summer including a headlining appearance at Cornbury Festival July 6th and British Summer Time Hyde Park as special guests to Robbie Williams July 14th. Full festival dates below:

Apologies for not writing in such a long time but we’ve been busy! One look at the charts and you can understand why!

First of all congrats to Tom Walker who finally released his debut album ‘What A Time To Be Alive’ after winning a BRIT for British Breakthrough. The LP stormed to #1, went down to #5 week two and is now holding its own at #2 in the midweeks. We can’t wait for his Roundhouse show May 1st. And look out for a big announcement next Monday!

More congrats to Dido who’s stunning ‘Still On My Mind’ album went in at #3 this week, having battled it out with Foals and Dave all week long. Dido tours for the first time in 15 years this May, landing at the Roundhouse for two nights May 30th and 31st. More UK dates just announced for winter.

A big round of applause to Jack Savoretti whose new album ‘Singing to Strangers’ is on course to be #1 on Friday- his first! Bolstered by the glorious singles ‘Candlelight’ and ‘What More Can I Do’, this breakthrough album looks set to be one of the year’s big success stories. Jack tours in May too, finishing at London’s Wembley Arena May 31st.

Take a bow Lewis Capaldi who celebrates 3 weeks atop the singles chart with ‘Someone You Loved’. He just announced his debut album, the unusually titled ‘Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent’ – out May 17th. Lewis’ November UK headline tour is completely sold out.

Next week Lewis is special guest to Ireland’s biggest band Picture Thiswho play 5 sold out shows at Dublin’s 3Arena. Currently doing 5 UK shows, they roll up at the Forum tonight for a sold out show. New album ‘MDRN LV’ out now on Island. More dates in October.

What else have we been up to? We caught Ida Mae’s sold out Omeara show last week and were mighty impressed with husband and wife duo Chris Turpin and Stephanie Jean. A cross between the White Stripes and Led Zep 3, Ida Mae are taking blues rock to a new audience armed with songs from their impressive Thirty Tigers debut disc ‘Chasing Lights’ out this summer.

Mark Ronson was in London the other week for the Global Awards and is putting the finishing touches on his remarkable new album. Stay tuned for news of his next single.

Also in London recently was Cage the Elephant front man. Matt Shultzwho charmed everyone he met with tales of the mighty forthcoming album ‘Social Cues’ out April 19th featuring Beck on stand out track ‘Night Running’. The band play 3 must see UK dates in June. If you haven’t heard their new LP yet, you have one massive sonic treat coming your way!!

A big MBC welcome to Steven Van Zandt who releases his first album of new material in 20 years with ‘Summer of Sorcery’ May 3rd. They have 6 UK dates in May too including London’s Forum May 24th.

Instant Grats ‘If You Don’t Love Me’ and ‘Reaching’
Out July 12th on Thirty Tigers
Headline Omeara 13th March

Off the back of a US tour and the release of their phenomenal track, ‘If You Don’t Love Me’, husband and wife duo Ida Mae, (Chris Turpin and Stephanie Jean) today announce their debut album ‘Chasing Lights’ – out July 12th on Thirty Tigers. Pre-order HERE.

Ida Mae also release fabulous new single ‘Reaching’, taken from the album, which is available as an instant grat now – listen here.

Album highlights include ‘If You Don’t Love Me’, which oozes beautiful simplicity that demands your attention. Stephanie’s vocals weave in and out of Chris’ haunting melodies, resulting in a balanced, fresh and elegant sound. The more upbeat ‘Reaching’ is effortlessly bluesy, showcasing the duo in a more vibrant light.

Ida Mae is the sound that Chris Turpin always dreamed of creating. After the break down of their raucous first group, Kill It Kid, Turpin, as opposed to seeing the band’s dissolution as a setback, saw it as an opportunity: “We wanted to make something simple and honest and raw,” says Chris. “We wanted to make a record our way, with no compromises.”

‘Chasing Lights’ was helped to become the masterpiece it is with the guidance of legendary producer Ethan Johns (Ray LaMontagne, Laura Marling, Kings of Leon). The duo’s natural chemistry proved to be an ideal fit for Ethan Johns’ minimalist approach to production. “Ethan records live and very quickly,” explains Turpin. “He loves the naïve discovery of early takes. It could be terrifying at times, but we always trusted his judgment.”

Blending elements of vintage Delta blues and gritty rock and roll with boldly modern arrangements and fearless punk swagger, ‘Chasing Lights’ captures Ida Mae in its purest form. From the pulsating ‘Higher Than Light’ to the Beat poet-inspired ‘My Girl Is A Heartbreak’, ‘Chasing Lights’ is an impressive eclectic debut. Singing together, the couple have an unusual ‘which-is-which’ dynamic.

Having toured with the likes of The Lone Bellow, Nick Mulvey, Nikki Lane, The Marcus King Band, Will Varley and Greta Van Fleet, Chris and Stephanie are no strangers to hitting the road. Ida Mae will play the following UK dates. Tickets on sale now:

March 2019
Tues 12th                          NORWICH, Norwich Arts Centre
Wed 13th                          LONDON, Omeara

Sun 8th                                 London, Hammersmith Apollo

Still On My Mind encapsulates a variety of styles and genres, ranging from her love of hip hop to her folk roots, but ultimately the entire record carries a dance and electronic music sensibility, even on the tracks with no beats. At the core, it’s about the songs which capture the beautiful essence of Dido personally and emotionally.

“It was simple, I only wanted to make another album if it was with him’ says Dido. ‘It was made in such an easy way, all the vocals recorded on the sofa, a lot of it recorded at home”. The record follows the 2013 release of the acclaimed Girl Who Got Away, with lead single Hurricanes, released at the end of last year, already amassing almost 2 MILLION streams on Spotify.

Speaking of making the album, Dido recalls ““an absolutely magical experience”, expressing that “I wanted to capture the feeling I still get from listening to music, just that rush like you don’t need anything more than this”.

With album sales topping 40 MILLION worldwide, Dido is one of the UK’s best-selling artists; both her debut No Angel, and its follow-up the 7x platinum Life For Rent ranking as two of the best selling albums in UK Chart history.

“My first five albums in the ‘80s were both very personal, and very political,” explains Little Steven aka Steven Van Zandt. “I wanted the new material to be more fictionalised. The way records were when I grew up. Before it was an artform. The concept was capturing and communicating that first rush of summer. The electricity of that feeling of unlimited possibilities. Of falling in love with the world for the first time. Obviously, there are occasional personal references, and a bit of what’s going on socially scattered throughout, but I achieved what I set out to do. I created a collection of fictional movies scenes that feel like summer. I’m quite proud of it.”

SUMMER OF SORCERY – which arrives just two years after Little Steven’s acclaimed 2017’s solo return, SOULFIRE, and its 2018 live follow-up, SOULFIRE LIVE! – was written, arranged, and produced by Van Zandt at his own Renegade Studios in New York City; the album was co-produced and recorded by GRAMMY® Award-winner Geoff Sanoff and co-produced by Disciples of Soul musical director and guitarist Marc Ribler. SUMMER OF SORCERY was mixed and mastered respectively by Van Zandt’s career-long collaborators and friends Bob Clearmountain (Rolling Stones, David Bowie, The Who, Bryan Adams), and Bob Ludwig (Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, The Band, Sly and the Family Stone). The album – which features an exclusive introduction written by Van Zandt – is adorned with Frank Frazetta-inspired cover art by Van Zandt’s longtime art director, Louis Arzonico.

Little Steven is joined on this thrilling musical journey with his all-star band the Disciples of Soul, a 14-strong ensemble made up of some of the best studio and live musicians in the business. Leading the charge alongside Van Zandt is musical director and guitarist Marc Ribler (Darlene Love, Roger McGuinn, Carole King) who conducts the band consisting of Lowell “Banana” Levinger of The Youngbloods on piano and Wurlitzer, bassist Jack Daley (Lenny Kravitz, Boz Scaggs, Darryl Hall), drummer Rich Mercurio (Ben E King, Sara Bareilles, Idina Menzel), percussionist Anthony Almonte (King Creole and The Coconuts), Andy Burton on B3 organ, piano, synthesizers (Cyndi Lauper, John Mayer, Ian Hunter), the dynamite horn section of horn director Eddie Manion on baritone saxophone (Diana Ross, Bruce Springsteen, Southside Johnny), Stan Harrison on tenor saxophone and flute (David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Duran Duran), Ron Tooley on trumpet (James Brown, John Lennon, Maceo Parker), Ravi Best on trumpet (Aretha Franklin, Stevie, Wonder, Kool and The Gang) and Clark Gayton on trombone (Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Joss Stone, Rihanna). The band is rounded out with the soulful, synchronised dancing backup singers Jessie Wagner (Kid Rock, Lenny Kravitz, Chic ), Sara Devine (Alicia Keys, Mary J Blige) and Tania Jones (Disciples of Soul).

SUMMER OF SORCERY is another landmark work in a four-decade career full of milestones, a spirited collection of songs which conjure up all the wonder and magic of the eponymous season – the beach and the boardwalk, the young love and unbridled lust, the innocence and experience that somehow starts it all.

“I always work thematically,” Van Zandt says. “I can’t just throw together a collection of songs; there has to be some kind of overriding idea that drives it. This time I wanted to capture the excitement of that first summer of consciousness. That one special summer where you first fall in love with life, that thrill of just being alive.”

Van Zandt’s first solo album as Little Steven in close to two decades, 2017’s SOULFIRE saw the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer revisiting songs that spanned the length of his career as artist, performer, producer, arranger, and songwriter, focusing on the “soul horns-meet-rock ‘n’ roll guitars” sound he first pioneered on Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes’ classic first three albums and later, his own first solo LP. The album saw Van Zandt uniting an all-new Disciples of Soul, complete with three backing vocalists and a full horn section featuring original Asbury Jukes/Miami Horns saxophonists Stan Harrison (tenor) and Eddie Manion (baritone). Little Steven and his 15-piece big band spent nearly two years traveling the world on the SOULFIRE Tour, not to mention last year’s “SOULFIRE TEACHER SOLIDARITY TOUR” supporting TeachRock, the Rock and Roll Forever Foundation’s national initiative to bring music curriculum into schools across the country. Still, the planetary success of the SOULFIRE project left Van Zandt to ponder: Where do I want to go now?

“Quite honestly, the SOULFIRE Tour was something special,” he says. “It was a definitive type of tour – I told my whole life story and most of the story of the history of rock ‘n’ roll simultaneously, it was a show 20, 30, 40 years in the making. So it was like, ok, now what? How do we beat that, or at least equal it? You set these standards and now you’ve got to reach them.”

Reach them he did – SUMMER OF SORCERY is Little Steven at his omnivorous, humanistic best, expertly crafted and deeply rooted in the many classic genres which taught and inspired the self-proclaimed “walking history lesson” from the jump. With their richly bombastic arrangements, floor-shaking groves, and high-powered performances from all involved, new songs like “Soul Power Twist and the album kick off “Communion” synthesize Van Zandt’s incalculable range of cultural and sonic inspirations into a one-of-a-kind brass-fueled brand of Technicolor rock ‘n’ soul unlike anyone else’s. The album features 10 original new songs alongside “Suddenly You,” an outtake from the “Lilyhammer” score, Netflix’s first original series, which starred Van Zandt who also composed all the music for trailblazing show, and a reimagining of “Education” which was first recorded for his 1989 album Revolution. “The education system needs to be fixed, needs to be improved,” he says. “Teachers need to be supported. There needs to be more support, more funding. That’s what I’m trying to get across with my TeachRock program and that’s all in this song.”

The record culminates with the epic title track, “Summer of Sorcery,” an eight-minute mission statement that conjures the euphoric rush of a summer romance and limitless possibility. “The whole theme of the album is summed up in that song, that wizardry, that magic mixture of falling in love in the summer,” says Van Zandt.

“I wanted to create a hybrid that would be uniquely me,” he says. “I wanted to hear Sly and the Family Stone, I wanted to hear Sam Cooke, I wanted to hear Tito Puente. I wanted to try and get the Beach Boys in there. James Brown, of course. I had certain touchstones of musical influence that I wanted to integrate into my thing.”

Recorded last year mid-SOULFIRE Tour and then mixed whilst on the road once again, SUMMER OF SORCERY represents a straightforward progression from its predecessor, the first time in Van Zandt’s long career that he’s maintained a band line-up and sonic approach from one solo work to the next.

“Instead of embarking on a whole new adventure, I decided, I’m going to evolve this thing,” Van Zandt says. “I’ve always wondered where my sound would evolve to if I ever did the same thing twice, if I ever evolved vertically rather than horizontally. All five of my solo albums before SOULFIRE are completely different genres. I never had a chance to evolve one particular thing to see where it went.”

Not to say Van Zandt didn’t push himself towards something new and novel – quite the opposite in fact. Where his prior solo canon was irrefutably linked by both his lifelong activism and deeply personal lyricism, this time Little Steven chose to eschew the overly political and explicitly autobiographical for a more overarching approach, one which allowed him a chance to apply his particular style of studied songcraft for his own album instead of another’s.

“With this record I really wanted to travel back to a time when life was exciting, when unlimited possibilities were there every day, says Van Zandt. “That was the feeling in the ‘60s, the thrill of the unexpected coming at you. Our minds were blown every single day, one amazing thing after another, constantly lifting you up. So you kind of walked around six inches off the ground all the time, there was something that kept you buoyant in your spirit. I wanted to try and capture that first and foremost.”

If SOULFIRE stands as the last word at the end of one chapter of Van Zandt’s long career, SUMMER OF SORCERY marks the start of what comes next.

“Making this record was everything I’d hoped for,” Little Steven says. “What I’d hoped would happen was, you put the whole tour, all of those songs, into a funnel and out of that funnel comes a new album. And that’s exactly what happened.”

ABOUT STEVEN VAN ZANDT
Musician, band leader, producer, actor, arranger, activist, and so much more, Little Steven Van Zandt is known and beloved around the world for his utterly distinctive songwriting, artistic ambition, and unyielding belief in the power and glory of classic rock ‘n’ soul. In addition to his ongoing role as a touring and recording member of The E Street Band, the past two decades have seen the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer expand his personal parameters to include legendary work as an actor on The Sopranos and Lilyhammer as well as host-creator of Sirius XM’s one-and-only “Little Steven’s Underground Garage” (not to mention creator of Sirius XM’s long-running “Outlaw Country” format). Van Zandt’s myriad creative efforts in recent years include composing the score for all three seasons of Lilyhammer along with landmark work as producer and songwriter, lending his distinctive craft to records including Darlene Love’s acclaimed 2015 release, INTRODUCING DARLENE LOVE.

Van Zandt’s first solo album in close to two decades, SOULFIRE drew rapturous applause from fans and critics alike upon its 2017 release, with Rolling Stone declaring, “Rock’s ultimate sideman reclaims the Jersey Shore sound he helped invent.” “Cynicism, irony and cultivated hip detachment have taken their toll on rock ‘n’ roll,” raved USA Today. “With SOULFIRE, Van Zandt aims to blow all that out and lead listeners back to its more passionate essence.” “It’s hard to imagine a more joyous and revelatory contemporary blue-eyed soul recording,” enthused American Songwriter. “The appropriately titled SOULFIRE is a tough, tight and clearly inspired project as well as a most welcome return from the musical shadows for Steven Van Zandt.” SOULFIRE “hearkens back to Van Zandt’s classic first solo album of gritty, greasy, horn-accented ‘60s-style rock and soul,” noted Billboard, while Paste proclaimed, “Rockier than Motown or the Sound of Philadelphia, this a joyous invitation to live and love.”

New Album Out 3rd May
Releases Video for Title Track
Limited Edition 7-Inch Out March 29th on Thirty Tigers

“On the memorable ballad she sings of retreating to the comfort of a front porch and the lyrics come alive within the characters in her powerful video.”- Billboard

Four-time Grammy Award-winning artist Joy Williams today releases the stunning video for ‘Front Porch’, taken from her highly anticipated new solo album of the same name which will be released May 3rd via Sensibility/Thirty Tigers and is now available for pre-order
HERE. Limited edition 7-inches of ‘Front Porch/This Side of Heaven’ will also be released on March 29th on Thirty Tigers.

The enticing video for ‘Front Porch’ was directed by sister and brother team Alexa and Stephen Kinigopoulos of Running Bear Films (Ruston Kelly, Colter Wall) alongside Kacey Musgraves. The track has already seen major success with 2 million streams on Spotify. Of the song, Williams shares, “When I think of a front porch, I think of welcoming and being welcomed—shoes off, no pretense, no rush, nothing to prove. I wanted to write a universal song that spoke of returning…to what is real, what is now, what is true, what is loving, deep within…and wherever you call home.”

Produced by Kenneth Pattengale of The Milk Carton Kids and engineered by Matt Ross-Spang, Front Porch alludes to the pre-mid-century American house, where friends, neighbours and loved ones might interrupt an evening stroll to sit a spell and catch up on local news and core life stuff. Williams’ second solo album is everything that image might lead you to expect: warm, conversational, intimate, simultaneously sheltered and open, and deeply dusk-and-wine-infused.

“The kind of music I really enjoy is the kind that feels like a conversation,” Williams says. “I really wanted this album to feel like an easy, open invitation to come and hang out…I want it to sound as real and up close as we can get it without my being too much in your face.”

Joy Williams is the winner of four Grammy Awards. She has released four solo albums and four EPs since her self-titled debut in 2001. She was half of The Civil Wars from 2009 until 2014, after which she released her solo LP, 2015’s VENUS, which was praised by NPR Music for it’s “new, more adventurous pop sound,” furthering, “Williams takes on this material without shirking its heaviness, but her gift for melodies that rise up like warm winds brings a climate of grace to even the most difficult subject matter.”
