Chart Busting MBC Newsletter Spring Edition March 2019

Apologies for not writing in such a long time but we’ve been busy! One look at the charts and you can understand why!

First of all congrats to Tom Walker who finally released his debut album ‘What A Time To Be Alive’ after winning a BRIT for British Breakthrough. The LP stormed to #1, went down to #5 week two and is now holding its own at #2 in the midweeks. We can’t wait for his Roundhouse show May 1st. And look out for a big announcement next Monday!

More congrats to Dido who’s stunning ‘Still On My Mind’ album went in at #3 this week, having battled it out with Foals and Dave all week long. Dido tours for the first time in 15 years this May, landing at the Roundhouse for two nights May 30th and 31st. More UK dates just announced for winter.

A big round of applause to Jack Savoretti whose new album ‘Singing to Strangers’ is on course to be #1 on Friday- his first! Bolstered by the glorious singles ‘Candlelight’ and ‘What More Can I Do’, this breakthrough album looks set to be one of the year’s big success stories. Jack tours in May too, finishing at London’s Wembley Arena May 31st.

Take a bow Lewis Capaldi who celebrates 3 weeks atop the singles chart with ‘Someone You Loved’. He just announced his debut album, the unusually titled ‘Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent’ – out May 17th. Lewis’ November UK headline tour is completely sold out.

Next week Lewis is special guest to Ireland’s biggest band Picture Thiswho play 5 sold out shows at Dublin’s 3Arena. Currently doing 5 UK shows, they roll up at the Forum tonight for a sold out show. New album ‘MDRN LV’ out now on Island. More dates in October.

What else have we been up to? We caught Ida Mae’s sold out Omeara show last week and were mighty impressed with husband and wife duo Chris Turpin and Stephanie Jean. A cross between the White Stripes and Led Zep 3, Ida Mae are taking blues rock to a new audience armed with songs from their impressive Thirty Tigers debut disc ‘Chasing Lights’ out this summer.

Mark Ronson was in London the other week for the Global Awards and is putting the finishing touches on his remarkable new album. Stay tuned for news of his next single.

Also in London recently was Cage the Elephant front man. Matt Shultzwho charmed everyone he met with tales of the mighty forthcoming album ‘Social Cues’ out April 19th featuring Beck on stand out track ‘Night Running’. The band play 3 must see UK dates in June. If you haven’t heard their new LP yet, you have one massive sonic treat coming your way!!

A big MBC welcome to Steven Van Zandt who releases his first album of new material in 20 years with ‘Summer of Sorcery’ May 3rd. They have 6 UK dates in May too including London’s Forum May 24th.

Taking time off his Foo Fighter duties, guitarist Chris Shiflett put the first track from his forthcoming solo album out with ‘This Ol’ World’. Chris plays 6 UK dates from March 31st including the Omeara April 1st.

And finally a huge welcome to the family to Ant Giannaccini who’s made himself at home here at MBC and we’re all the better for it!
